Ladies Dress Guidelines
- For Regular Camp Dress: All styles must be modest and appropriate for the job. We ask your tops to be loose and provide full coverage. Most people wear T-shirts and shorts or jeans during the day.
- Sleeveless is allowed, but not tank tops. The sleeveless shirt needs to come to the edge of your shoulder, is designed to be sleeveless (not cut off), doesn’t have a scooped neckline like a tank top, and doesn’t hang or gap in the armholes. This guideline for tank tops should also extend to your summer dresses if you plan to pack any of those. Skirts should come to the top of the knee when standing.
- Shorts: While standing, place your fist at the top of your kneecap; shorts should come to your wrist or below.
- Evening Service Wear: Skirts/Dresses must come at least to the top of the knee when standing. For morning chapels, regular camp dress is acceptable. For evening services, fashions to the top of the knee when standing (skirts and dresses) and shirts that are a step above a T-shirt are acceptable.
- For Shorts, while standing, place your fist at the top of your kneecap; shorts should come to your wrist or below.
- Styles worn to evening services should not be intended for the waterfront, athletic events/exercise, or bedtime.
- Anything skintight does not count as covered but can be worn as a base layer.
- Ironwood reserves the right to ask any summer staff member to change his/her outfit if, in the estimation of the staff, the outfit is too immodest, too feminine/masculine, or too suggestive.
- On weekends: We expect basically the same guidelines for weekends. You will probably want a church outfit. Our local churches are pretty casual, but it is sometimes nice to have a little dressier option than your camp skirts.
- Swimwear: Please bring a modest swimming suit with colored shorts that you can wear at the lake. Shorts can be any length for swimming (knee length is not required). One-piece suits are encouraged, but a two-piece is fine as long as you are fully covered (example: Tankini that you can put your hands in the air and no midsection shows). We also ask our lady staff to wear a shirt over their suit while swimming-regular tank tops are allowed at the lake.
- Be sure to pack a few work outfits that can get dirty or stained.
- Please be wise in the graphic t-shirt choices you make. Depending on the cultural relevance/significance, Ironwood might ask you to not wear a graphic t-shirt. Any shirts with music bands, suggestive language, inuendo, or immodest image will be requested that you don’t wear.
- We encourage you to pack a hat, flip flops, and a good pair of tennis shoes.
- The kitchen asks that their staff wear long pants (not workout pants), t-shirts, and no sleeveless shirts. They also require closed-toed, closed-heel shoes.
- Clothing should not be too low, too tight, or too short – Underwear lines and bra straps should not be visible. Cleavage should be covered.
- Clothing should not have an over-worn or grunge look. If your pants have holes in them, they need to be from the knee down.
- Hair should be a natural color.
Our desire is for you to have a classic, professional appearance. If you are on the game field playing a game, dress appropriately. If you are in the evening service, dress appropriately. We know these guidelines may not be your personal preference, but we do our best to communicate the expectations so we can serve our churches well this summer. We also want to be clear so you know how to pack for the summer!
